African Public Affairs Committee and Asha Strategies invite you to African Diaspora, Black Immigrant Communities & the 2026 Midterm Elections, a virtual, nonpartisan conversation on Wednesday, October 28, from 7:00–8:30 p.m. Eastern.
We are pleased to feature Diana Konaté of African Communities Together, alongside African diaspora and Black immigrant leaders, to discuss immigration, affordability, education, community priorities, and civic participation ahead of the upcoming elections.
African diaspora and Black immigrant communities bring diverse experiences and perspectives. This discussion will explore how our communities can stay informed, participate in civic life, and engage public officials on the issues affecting our families during election season and beyond.
With African diaspora and Black immigrant communities living in states such as Michigan and Texas, as well as other states with competitive races, it is important that eligible voters are informed and prepared to participate. That includes checking voter registration, understanding voting requirements and deadlines, learning about the offices and issues on the ballot, and making a plan to vote. Civic engagement also extends beyond Election Day through year-round advocacy and dialogue with public officials.
